Wine information

According to Le Trame is Le Cinque the second wine from Giovanna Morganti's Podere Le Boncie. Originally, this wine was only sold on the estate and was made from the fruit of younger or less well-positioned vines. It got its name because Morganti had planted five classic Tuscan grape varieties in the vineyard Sangiovese, Colorino, Mammolo, Fogliatonda and Ciliegiolo. In 2010, Giovanna Morganti added a vineyard located three kilometres from her house in San Felice, a hamlet of Castelnuovo Berardenga, but outside the Chianti Classico zone. This new parcel is 1.3 hectares in size and consists of very rocky limestone soils facing south-southwest. Sangiovese is planted here with two rows of Canaiolo. This gives rise to today's wine. The Le Cinque is fermented in stainless steel and then spends a year in wooden barrels of different sizes . It is then brought together in tank, rests for a little while and is finally bottled without fining or filtration.

Color

slightly transparent, bright purple red

Nose

The Le Cinque is a young picture book Chianti. Even though it is officially a Toscana IGT may be. It smells of young, crisp sour cherries, a few plums, red and blue berries. There is also a good amount of grated dark chocolate and undergrowth with dried Tuscan herbs.

Palate

The wine appears lively and juicy on the palate with lots of young, crisp fruit and an agile, tangy acidity. It is accompanied by a present, polished tannin structure, some blond tobacco and undergrowth. This is an ideal companion to Tuscan country cuisine that loves the acid structure and earthiness of Sangiovese.
