Info about the situation
South Tyrolean simple Pergel and Gujot in very steep terrain on loamy sand, of volcanic origin, as well as morenic deposits , very deep and permeable.
Info about the expansion
Biodynamic without the aid of tractors. After the hand harvest, the grapes were crushed, spontaneous fermentation in wooden fermentation racks, without temperature control, with 100 % of crests for 4 weeks, including post maceration, on the skins. Hand filling without fining and filtration.
Color
Deep dark black-red, minimal purple brightening towards the rim.
Nose
The 2018 Laurenc is a revelation, peat, tar, truffle, liquorice and dark chocolate combine with notes of sweet blueberries and cassis liqueur. Underpinning it all is a myriad of wild herbs and a minerality that could not be more profound.
Palate
This wine virtually unloads on the tongue, lots of dark fruit, gripping and at the same time ripe tannins and a long finish. Intense and wild, rarely has Lagrein been tasted with so much expression. Very good potential for maturity and development. Lightly chilled, a delight with beef and game dishes as well as earthy vegetarian compositions.
