Color

Ruby red, transparent and clear.

Nose

Youthful yet with serious undertones, the 2018 Nebbiolo from Chiara Boschis, E. Pira & Figli Its red-fruited nature of cherries and raspberries is tartly accompanied by aromas of cranberries, barberries and rose hips. Roasted chestnuts and hazelnuts and dark chocolate are flanked florally by violets and hollyhocks. Earthy-spicy notes with a slightly smoky touch make the wheel go round in circles.

Mouth

The palate mirrors the nose superbly and wraps the red-berried, tart fruit in a youthfully impetuous corset of tannins that seems to be tailored to the hips of this Nebbiolo. Accommodating with transparent fruit and driving acidity, its performance on the palate is firm, punchy, cohesive and, above all, driving with swinging acidity and proper beats per minute. A wine that will develop brilliantly in the next three to five years and thus pleasantly shorten the waiting time for the site Barolos.

Food recommendations from Sebastian Bordthäuser

  • Braised radicchio tardivo with red wine, raisins and pine nuts
  • Fried mackerel on paprika cabbage with pimentón de la vera and cherry brandy
