Info

The cuvée of Grenache Noir, Carignan and Cinsault exudes a piece of the South of France. The mixture of warm climate, many hours of sunshine and the influences of the Mont Ventoux mountains leave clear traces. The northernmost area of Provence stands for exactly this mixture. The wines show themselves dark and elegant at the same time with a crisp acidity. The low yields of only 20 hl per hectare are completely destemmed and only undergo a short maceration period. The wine is aged in concrete tanks, neutral barrels with enamel coating and a few used barrels.

Dark cherry red, violet reflections

Nose

On the way to the Mediterranean you pass the Alps and other mountain ranges. The Mont Ventoux is one of them. The 2018 La Source conveys exactly this feeling. The wine presents warmth and fruit, but at the same moment it also shows itself - completely contrary to this - cool and fine. The fruit is not concentrated, but marked by berries with natural acidity. Raspberry, currant, cassis and elderberry. Also blackberry bushes, thyme and sage could be detected sensorially. A little eucalyptus underlines the cool impression, while lavender and violet flowers offer a moderating influence between the contrasts. A little juniper and dried herbs round off the nose wonderfully.

Palate

On the palate, the fruit is then rich and dark. The cuvée is densely structured and provided with a fine-grained tannin. However, a proper acid jerk counteracts this. It presents itself stony and cool with an invigorating freshness. It lives up to the impression of the nose. A wine full of contrasts. Lots of juice. Dark fruit. Vibrant acidity. Delicate tannin. Cool minerality. The finish allows all these attributes to flow together.
