The grapes for this single-varietal Verdejo come from a vineyard in La Seca that is a good 30 years old. The soils are predominantly gravel and the grapes are harvested by hand. After a cold maceration in the press, only the free-run juice is fermented for this wine and then gravity pressed before being aged for 6 months on the lees in steel tanks. The wine matured for six months on the fine lees in stainless steel to preserve the typicity of the Verdejo.
Color
Pale yellow with green reflections and silver tapered rim.
Nose
The 2021 La Pasajera from Victoria Ordonez smells joyful and fruity on the nose. Green apples, a little lime and yellow tropical fruits such as passion fruit and passion fruit leaves outline it as a typical Verdejo. In addition, there are notes of freshly mown summer meadow and a bunch of hay flowers. Summery, fragrant and uncomplicated type with a correct fun factor.
Mouth
With a juicy attack, it is enlivened by a little CO2 and juvenile verve. With its impetuously fruity nature, it crashes across the palate of the tippler as if there were no white wine in Spain and fulfils practically all the wishes one could have for a Verdejo of this calibre. Youthfully buoyant with fine acidity and apple-green chubby cheeks, it is a crisp, fresh fizz for any occasion.
