Color
The wine presents itself in light white gold with silvery reflections clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
On the nose, this Andalusian mountain wine made from the Pedro Ximénez grape variety is elegant, straightforward and yet floral, sheer with the floral fragrance of a muscatel. Fruity notes of fresh figs, peach and physalis say yes to floral scents, such as clove, peony and lime, and bed down amid grapefruit zest and sushi ginger, as well as a blob of yogurt and subtle herbal aromas.
Palate
On the palate, the 2018La Ola del Melillero from Victoria Odonez is a true gentleman. After a fresh fruity and fragrant attack, it moves between juicy and velvety on the palate. It comes across as light-footed and uncomplicated without losing any of its seriousness. The wine's acidity is in tense harmony with its slender body and a subtle, yet stimulating phenolic.
Who knows the grape variety Pedro Ximénez so far only as sweet wine or viscous cream sherry from grandmother's liquor cabinet, sees here a refreshing and joyful surprise.
An adult wine that has never lost its playfulness.
