Wine information

Grenache blanc, Clairette and Bourboulenc, three of the great white southern French varieties are used by Philippe Gimel for this white Ventoux used, which is like a white Châteauneuf-du-Pape presents. Just 20 hl/ha are harvested for this wine, whose vines stand quite high on Mont Ventoux. The wine was fermented and aged in stainless steel. In the youth, there is still fruit, then spice. According to Philippe, the wine should be able to mature for 20 years.

Color

intense straw yellow

Nose

The La Montagne smells intensely of roughened rubber at first. This is quite typical for the White of the South, which is why you should carafe the wine. Then a roundelay of fresh and dried fruits opens up, including candied citrus, fresh kumquats, soft apricots, yellow pears and a bit of honeydew melon. These are interwoven with hints of honey, with acacia flowers, licorice, anise and stone.

Palate

On the palate the La Montagne Taut and powerful with notes of nuts and dried fruit. The wine has grip on the palate, an almost steely character with incisive acidity as well as some tannic texture, and it conveys a comforting warmth at the same time. It is a formidable food companion to strong dishes, intense, lush, structured and dense.
