Color
The wine shows itself in bright golden yellow clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
Ripe and finely spiced citrus fruit makes the eyes of this cuvée of Viura, Grenache Blanc and Malvasia wander over the bar counter. Blood orange, kumquats and grapefruit each order a mojito with crushed rock candy, lime, mint and the finest white rum. Flambéed pineapple and smoked salted almonds are served with it. The opulent but not overdone fruit is spicily complemented by notes of fresh hazelnut, as well as its chopped wood and green pepper.
Palate
Compact and with a small woven velvety tannin, the 2016 La Merced from Emilio Valerio, which was fermented and aged in oak and acacia barriques with moderate acidity, unexpectedly brings more emphasis to the palate than the nose would suggest. It shines with creaminess, extract and penetrating power. All this dominance, however, appears wonderfully stocky and meticulously precise and is equipped by lively acidity tailor-made with drinking flow.
