Le Fleur au Verre" from 100% Pinot Noir comes from a 30-year-old, late-ripening Pinot Noir plant from the slopes of the Côte Chalonnaise. The Pinot Noir was pressed and came with 50% centime to already fermenting white wine. Fermentation in the tank is deliberately kept short so that the wine enters the barrel after only four to five days, where it finishes fermenting like the white wines. Altaber's goal is a youthful, fruit-driven red wine with hedonistic drinking characteristics.
Color
Purple red with slight cloudiness and violet reflections.
Nose
On the nose, the 2020 Le Fleur au Verre by Julien Altaber shows its well-known and popular funky side Some volatile acidity and a few other fermentation side effects outline the joyfully fruity nose, reminiscent of elderberries, cherries and a thick slice of raspberry bisquit roll. Delicately citrusy notes as well as spicy notes of long red pepper complete the project.
Mouth
The impression of elderberries with their spicy, tart nature continues on the palate. With juicy reduced fruit and a fresh acidic nerve, it has a drinkability like a white wine, fired by ripe and polished tannins. An unpolished and puristic Pinot Noir with an almost exaggerated drinking flow.
