Artist's edition designed by Johannes Grützke in a limited edition. The edition includes a lithograph signed by the artist, the distillate Eau-De-Vie d'Alsace Prunelle Sauvage by Jean-Paul Metté with a specially designed artist's label and a wooden box with branding. The twisted eye is a frequently recurring motif in Johannes Grützke's work. For him, it is not only the trademark of many of his paintings, but also a personal expression of the highest delight. Johannes Grützke's work is characterised by extreme diversity. From 1957 to 1964 he studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin. There he was also a master student of Professor Peter Janssen and, from 1962 onwards, also a student of Oskar Kokoschka in Salzburg. Two years later he had his first solo exhibition in Bad Godesberg at the Galerie Pro. On 24 January 1973, together with other like-minded artists, he founded the 'School of New Magnificence' in Berlin. His work was crowned with success not only as a painter, but also as a stage designer, as his many years of collaboration with the director Peter Zadek at many German theatres show. He also followed in the footsteps of his former teacher Oskar Kokoschka as a lecturer at the Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg. For almost five decades, Johannes Grützke has been creating a diverse body of work that not only impresses with its masterful technique, but also fascinates with its choice of motifs. With his art, which is oriented towards the representational, he wants to translate his idea into painting as if it had sprung directly from reality. My pictures are an expression of my personal experiences ... and in my pictures I document general experiences, representative of many. ... With the help of a section of reality I paint the whole reality. The small reality surrounding me ... is representative of the entire large reality.
