Wine information
For Kühling-Gillot, the Ölberg is the southernmost site in the Nierstein Rote Hang. It is the only site with a completely southern exposure and, with a 60 % slope, a classic steep site. The red clay slate replaces the humus layer of the vineyard as weathering rock and also serves as a heat reservoir.
Color
pale straw yellow
Nose
The Mount of Olives turns out to be, as it were Vin naturel with notes of apples and apple peel, some must, hops and sweet yeast. Added to this are rocks with red berries and some kumquat, turmeric and curry.
Mouth
On the palate, the Riesling from the Ölberg is juicy and clear with notes of ripe apples and Indian spices, ground stone and again some kumquat. The wine shows a little tannin, has a lot of power and a slight saltiness as well as a pleasant pressure on the palate.
