Wine information
The vines of this Spätburgunder grow on top of the hill around the farm. The loess layer on the rock is higher than that on the slope, which makes the soils here somewhat deeper and more fertile. The limestone from the Jura forms the subsoil here. The grapes are harvested ripe, but already at the beginning of their ripeness, which is why there is only 12.5 vol-% alcohol here. The wine was only very roughly filtered. Sulphur was added in very small doses, and only shortly before bottling. After fermentation on the skins, which included some whole grapes, the Pinot Noir was matured in barriques with several layers of grapes.

translucent brick red
Nose
The Pinot Noir Lime & Loess combines a rather cool cherry fruit with dry wood, forest floor and stone in the nose. On top are notes of sage and a little wood spice.
Palate
On the palate, the Pinot Noir is impressively taut and mineral. After all, it comes from 2018 and from one of the hottest corners of Germany. And yet the wine has just 12.5 vol.-% alcohol and has a crystal-clear sinewy acidity along with a striking tannin. Cool cherry fruit flavours dominate here too, accompanied by cherry pits, a bit of rustic spice and a light balsamic note. A strong entry.
