Nose

The Eitelsbach Carthusian Courtyard Hill Riesling Auslese is already amazingly open and inviting on the nose. This mixture of a little, and by no means too much, flint and smoke, wet slate and some petrichor, salt lemon and kumquat as well as a touch of passion fruit and pineapple is simply irresistible.

Palate

On the palate, this Selection at least as precise, clear and deep as in the bouquet, however, an insatiable drinking flow is added here. The 74 grams of residual sweetness fizzle out in the crystalline acidity of 8.2 grams and combine with the distinct saltiness that this Selection inherent in the wine. On the one hand, the brilliance and mineral depth as well as the energy of this Riesling become clear, on the other hand, the wine drinks like a gentleman's soda. Everything simply fits together. It prances and vibrates, glides smoothly over the palate and leaves a form of unexcitedness in the long finish that is simply fantastic. How - in the hell - are you supposed to get away from such a Selection even if you know that it will become more complex and deeper over time?
