Wine information
This is a cuvée of 55 % Pinot Blanc, 35 % Chardonnay and 10 % Grüner Veltliner. The hand-harvested grapes come from several predominantly limestone and slate sites in the municipality of Jois, located at the northern end of the Leithaberg. Harvest took place from September 13-18, 2019, and after hand-harvesting and sorting, 90 % was traditionally pressed and fermented, and 10 % was fermented on skins. The residual sugar is 1.1 g.
Color
rich straw yellow tending towards golden yellow
Nose
In the nose this already coloured very intensive Cuvée shows Lime & Slate lots of spice. Crushed stone, especially flint, mixes here with wild herbs, chamomile and broom, anise and crushed zest of cedrat lemons and grapefruit.
Palate
The Nittnaus call this wine a "consistent mineralist". And that is a fitting description; because the wine brings an impressively pulsating energy to the palate, and that with a ripe, silky, almost soft acidity. Juicy and salty, the Lime & Slate and again flinty-smoky. Power has, by the way, in abundance and shows with grip that comes from the partial maceration.
