Clos Troteligotte of Emmanuel Rybinski is a 19 hectare enclosed domain located on the high terroirs of the Cahors appellation. The estate's own vineyards are located in the middle of a forest between the Lot Valley and the Causses, the limestone plateau of Quercy Blanc. Rybinski firmly believes that the quality of the wines is directly rooted in the work done in the vineyards as well as in the quality of the soils. In order to promote the greatest possible balance between vines and soils, Rybinski farms his vineyards according to the principles of biodynamics.

Since 1987, Clos Troteligotte has been practicing a rural agriculture that considers viticulture as part of a healthy circular economy. The experience and observations of the natural interplay of vines, terroir and climate resulted in organic certification in 2014 and biodynamic certification according to Demeter guidelines in 2017. The reds are on the ferruginous clay-limestone terroir of the Cahors plateau, while the whites are grown outside the Clos on external 12 hectares on the Quercy blanc limestone terroirs. The wines of the domaine are marketed under the AOC Cahors as well as Vin de France.

The K-Or from 100% Malbec is grown on the Causses, the white clay-limestone soils of Cahors. The micro-plots with average 30-year-old vines were harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously after a long maceration period and gentle extraction. After fermentation in concrete, it matured on its lees in cement for 12 months before being bottled as A.O.C. Cahors without added sulphur.

Color

Purple red with violet reflections.

Nose

Fruity and fleshy, the 2019 K-Or from Emmanuel Rybinski's Clos Troteligotte oscillates between classic Malbec expression and modern vinification. Plums and black cherries dominate the nose, with mulberries and sloes following close behind. On top, dark aromas float like a heavy perfume - black pepper and freshly tanned leather along with dark tobacco and liquorice conjure up plenty of action on the nose.

Mouth

On the palate, the pendulum clearly swings in the direction of the New School With taut fruit on the nose, it is juicy until the tannin follows and gives it its fine, tart finish. Its polished tannin is reminiscent of times when Cahors was mainly chewed thanks to its uncouth tannins. The K-Or functions as a youthful representative of a grown region with a contemporary approach and corresponding sex appeal.
