Jerome Galeyrand

In Gevrey-Chambertin, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, you will find Jérôme's picturesque vineyard, which extends over 5.25 hectares. On this land, mainly the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties are cultivated. Great importance is attached to ecological and biodynamic cultivation methods.

Jérôme is originally from the Loire and has no winemaking family behind him. He worked in the food industry for eight years. However, after a few years harvesting at Domaine Alain Burguet in Gevrey-Chambertin from 1996, he felt inspired to start his own winery and enrolled at the Wine Institute in Beaune. In 2002, he bought his first small vineyard plot of just 0.05 hectares and carried out his own vinification in September of the same year. Since then, Jérôme has expanded his vineyard to five hectares and harvests every year with a group of well-trained friends.

Vinification takes place in a small winery at his home. His goal is terroir transparency. 70% of the vineyards are farmed organically and 30% sustainably. No pesticides are used and all vines are ploughed. The vinification process is gentle, varying between 100% destemmed and 100% whole grapes depending on the cuvée. All wines are aged in oak barrels - 12 months for whites and 18 to 24 months for reds. Jérôme's wines are precise, refined and elegant, wonderfully fragrant and absolutely delicious. Depending on the vintage conditions, he produces about 2,000 cases per year.
