Wine Description for Bourgogne Pinot Noir „Antonin“ AOP 2022 by Jérôme Galeyrand

Colour & Appearance
Luminous, deep ruby red – clear and brilliant in the glass, with a depth that promises more than a simple Bourgogne would lead one to expect.
Nose
The nose is lush and seductive: morello cherries, mulberries and elderberries come to the fore, fully ripe and juicy. Beneath them shimmer fine notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans, along with a whisper of smoke that lends the whole an elegant depth. Inviting, almost compelling – the glass seems to pour itself.
Palate
Juicy, direct, remarkably drinkable. The dark fruits of the nose continue seamlessly, carried by silky, ripe tannins and a vibrant, well-integrated acidity that gives the wine structure and tension. Not a gram of excess – here clear, joyful fruit reigns supreme.
Finish
Fruity, long and invigorating. The finish is juicy-fresh with a lingering echo of ripe dark berries. A wine that invites you to take the next sip before the first has faded away.
Terroir & Origin
Jérôme Galeyrand, a native of the Loire Valley and a lateral entrant to Burgundy, built his estate from a single parcel of just 0.05 hectares in 2001 to around 5.25 hectares today. His conviction: great wine is born from the interplay of great terroir, genetically valuable vine material and a winemaker who respects both.
Grape Variety & Vinification
Pure Pinot Noir, farmed biodynamically and organically – certified since 2019. The vineyards are ploughed, harvesting is done by hand, lunar cycles are taken into account. In the cellar: no industrial yeasts, no enzymes, no fining agents, minimal sulphur. Craftsmanship in its purest form.
Food Pairing Suggestions
Ideal with crostini with grilled peppers and goat’s cheese, with mackerel rillettes with black bread and beetroot or a hearty borscht. Honest food for an honest wine.
Special Features
An extraordinary price-to-pleasure ratio: rarely do you get so much authentic Burgundy – crafted, biodynamic, characterful – for a modest budget. Galeyrand proves that great conviction needs no grand appellations.
