Recaredo is located in Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, the absolute cava stronghold, but has turned its back on the D.O. Cava appellation. Cava appellation and now markets its wines under the Corpinnat designation of origin. Indeed, one still has to be careful as hell not to call the great wines of Recaredo Cava. Corpinnat is the region between the imposing Montserrat Mountains and the nearby Mediterranean Sea. The Corpinnat appellation brings together under its umbrella the leading quality wineries that have broken with the D.O. Cava and now want to be increasingly recognized by their high-quality sparkling wines. Cava is much too broad in mass and with a simple image for this.
The sparkling wines of Recaredo are produced according to traditional methods. They mature under natural corks on the yeast. The shaking and degorgement of the bottles is done manually. All wines are Brut Nature. The 2017 Intens Rosat Brut Nature is made from 87% Monastrell and 13% Garnatxa Negra. It matured on the yeast for 33 months before it was disgorged in November 2020.
Color
Bright pomegranate red, fine bubbles
Nose
The nose shows above all the character and signature of a Recaredo. The relatively dark color belies a little the intrinsically delicate core of the wine. The Intens Rosat from the 2017 vintage reminds one first and foremost of rose hips, cranberry and wild strawberries. Strawberry often has a reputation for being cheesy in wine, but this is not meant to express that. Strawberry can be quite a subtle aroma in its natural form, and one finds it delightful here in the glass. Pomegranate, rooibos and red fruit tea also reveal themselves to the taster.
Palate
The fine mousseaux initially fills the mouth. The pleasantly present fruit extract covers the palate like a film. The aromas of the nose emerge again. Especially the associations to fine teas of red fruits and rosehip come to the fore. As soon as the mousseaux is laid down on the palate, the acidity snaps like a lasso across this fruit spectacle. Extremely animating and invigorating. The lime in the underground expresses itself in clarity and precision.
