Info about the wine
The Frappato di Vittoria stands at 280 meters above sea level in the offshore hills of the Sicilian Monti Iblei on red sand, chalk and a chalky subsoil. The Frappato is raised partly in Guyot and partly in Albarello and is on average 40 years old. The grapes are harvested by hand in the first week of October. In the cellar, the Frappato is spontaneously fermented and left to ferment on the skins for over a month, then aged for 14 months in large 25-hectolitre Slavonian oak barrels and later bottled unfiltered.
Color
Purple red with garnet lightening towards the rim.
Nose
The 2018 Il Frappato shows itself to be an absolute seducer with its fragrant and beguiling raspberry fruit, sweet blueberries, cassis liqueur and floral dark splendor that brings to mind violets and wild roses. With a little oxygen, spicy notes of black olives, pepper, juniper and a hint of grilled rosemary join in.
Palate
On the tongue it seems light-footed, the fruit in the foreground, the acidity ripe and at the same time present, its tannin mega fine and polished. Each sip of this red-berried and refreshing drop encourages another - and with the low alcohol of 12.5 Vol% this happens without regret and with pleasure. It is best enjoyed slightly chilled with tasty, spicy and fruity cuisine.
