The red Etna I Vigneri is one of a series of wines made every year from different grape varieties by local winemakers in the old press house Palmento Caselle, here Etna's old traditional winemaking, which has almost disappeared, revives.

Info about the expansion

The red Etna I Vigneri is a pure, historical and honest wine from Palmento Etneo, produced as always on Etna, without refrigeration and without wood finishing, according to biodynamic principles.

Manual harvest in the first and second half of October, maceration of the grapes with skins and stems for 8 days, spontaneous fermentation, without addition of yeast for 8-10 days, aging in terracotta amphorae under the ground for 6 months, minimal filtration and addition of sulfur during bottling.

Average number of bottles produced per year 5,000.

Color

Muted violet red with black reflections, almost dense in colour to the rim.

Nose

The 2019 I Vigneri Rosso shows impressive density and masculine richness. Initially, notes of tar, wood smoke and fireplace penetrate the nose, with oxygen dark blackberries, fig and sloe join in. A sea of herbs, including rosemary, thyme, wild sage and quite a bit of juniper, show up with a beguiling and fresh presence, distinct graphite and smoky notes are omnipresent. Dark depth, in which one would like to dive.

Palate

On the palate, it appears youthfully compact, the tannin structure is ripe and at the same time still wonderfully demanding. It radiates minerality and coolness, which stimulates the drinking flow wonderfully. At the very beginning of its drinking maturity, one does well to store it for a few years, decanted with sufficient lead time and with the right food combination it already makes immense joy.
