Wine Description:

This exquisite Chardonnay comes from the partially terraced steep slopes of the Herrenberg and unfolds its full-bodied aroma on a subsoil of slatted limestone. It was pressed in the traditional manner on the basket press and fermented spontaneously in used barriques and tonneaus, remaining exclusively on the full lees until bottling. All forms of batonnage were omitted and a complete malolactic fermentation was carried out. In June 2022, the wine was racked once and bottled with 30mg/l SO2. The residual sugar is a meagre 0.6g/l.

The charming wine impresses with its radiant golden yellow and captivates with delicate green reflections. Its bouquet is a puristic melange of citrus fruits and lemon balm, which combines seamlessly with chalky notes and needs no further aromas to enchant the connoisseur. Subtle wood tones and a hint of anise underline its Burgundian structure without being dominant. A truly magnificent drop that is still at the beginning of its development.

On the palate, the 2020 Herrenberg proves its power, but still seems youthful and a little unfinished. This is not a shortcoming, however, as these Burgundian drops only truly reveal themselves with a little maturity. They retain their youthful sharpness and that is what makes them so unique. With these wines, you are on the safe side with Forgeurac. Cool and lingering aftertaste is promised by this beguiling drop, which is best enjoyed decanted and slightly chilled from Burgundy glasses.

When it comes to food recommendations, there is a variety of flavours that complement the wine beautifully. An alternative selection could be pumpkin risotto with nutmeg, lobster in a crustacean broth with wild rice and a hint of rosemary, orange segments for a light contrast or the tender veal fillet in a coat of porcini mushrooms and puff pastry served with a mushroom sauce.
