Wine information

The grapes of this Blaufränkisch come from the south-east facing slope Windener Alter Berg in the Leithagebirge. Above this vineyard stands the cooling forest, downwards one has a view of Lake Neusiedl, and cherry trees grow in the rows. The soil is characterised by barren limestone. The grapes were hand-picked at the beginning of October, followed by spontaneous fermentation on the skins for three weeks in wooden fermentation racks. The wine was then gently pressed with a basket press and aged for 29 months in the cellar amphora and in used 500-litre oak barrels.

quite transparent ruby red

Nose

So close the Old mountain The bouquet is so intense and cool that the colour is so intense and cool. It is reminiscent of black cherries and sour cherries, plums and sloes, earth and undergrowth with damp forest soil and a little ivy. There are also notes of damp stone with petrichor, some seasoned venison and fermented cardamom.

Palate

On the palate, it blossoms especially if you carafe it beforehand and then pour it into a Burgundy glass. Then the immense tension and vibrant minerality that pulsate in this black-dark fruity wine become concise. This is a Blaufränkisch of purist clarity and cool finesse, but enriched by a flashing sweet fruit and yeasty notes that give it a subtle charm.
