Palate
On the palate, this estate wine already very clearly shows Julia Bertram's motto of producing mineral, firm and elegant Pinot Noirs. The Craft Pinot Noir is present from the first moment with an irrepressible freshness and energy. The fruit features a mix of red and dark berries that seem as if their stalks have just been pressed into juice - even though the fruit is 100 % de-stemmed. In the background, there's cool stone, a hint of wood and, again, a hint of fruit sweetness in what should be bone-dry Pinot Noir. There are also subtly acidic notes here like those of pomegranate juice and grapefruit. The tension and the freshness that this wine offers provides a lot of drinking flow and leads to the fact that one takes the wine in large sips and is pleased with each further that Julia Bertram puts down such a performance at this price level.
