To the wine
The Ried Steinberg site is located in Grinzing to the west of Vienna's Nussberg. Facing south, it is mainly limestone and alpine primary rock with lots of quartzite inclusions. The grapes were harvested by hand, crushed and pressed after a six-hour maceration period. The pre-clarified must was fermented spontaneously in stainless steel and matured on the fine lees. The 2020s Grüner Veltliner was lightly filtered, not fined and bottled with little sulphur.
Color
Rich straw yellow with copper reflections
Nose
The 2020s Grüner Veltliner from the Ried Steinberg is an intense wine right from the start, smelling of pure plums, grapefruits, apples and orange zest, but also of herbs, baked celery root, pepper and iodine as well as a hint of pear cream. The wine proves to be firm, grippy and clear.
Palate
On the palate the Grüner Veltliner Juicy and finely spicy, but above all bright and clear as a bell without any heaviness, but with a fine texture and a silky, lively acidity. With air, its power becomes increasingly clear, as does its salty vein, which runs through the fruit of pome fruits and mango, through the herbal spiciness and the slight earthiness.
