Info

At the Weingut am Klotz, the name is chosen with a strong connection to its origin. The Isteiner Klotz is a striking mountain ridge based on Jurassic limestone deposits and is geographically located between the southern Black Forest and the Rhine Graben.

Color

Clear, bright straw yellow with light reflections

Nose

The 2021 Chasselas "Kalk und Löss" smells wonderfully unagitated and delicate. At the same time, it appears extremely cool and chalky-stony. Above all, yellow fruits set the pace. Mirabelle plum, apricot and nectarine are perceived in a pleasant and discreet way. Always refined with a breeze of lemon zest and kaffir lime leaves. Bergamot and a little grapefruit are also part of this fine aroma. Lemon balm and mint complement this very successfully. It always presents itself crystal clear and refreshingly cool. A hint of fennel and aniseed as well as fresh artichokes complement this aroma composition ingeniously.

Palate

Like a mountain stream, it seamlessly follows on from the impressions gained. Cool, clear and precise. The acid structure is unexpectedly appealing for Chasselas, which is often missing in representatives of this variety. Thus, it gains substance and is built on a solid framework. The cool and stony-elegant elements continue like a red thread. Aromatically, the herbal nuances as well as the citrus fruits and the vegetal hints assert themselves on the palate and in the finish. The yellow fruitiness is almost dissipated in the finish. The acidity adds so much tension that no glass should remain filled for long.
