Info about the situation
The vineyards around the former Winkelberg Castle slope towards the south and are located on a plateau behind the edge of the Wagram. Beneath the thick fertile loess cover lie cold-period terrace gravels of the Danube and, again underneath, clayey-silty Miocene marine sediments with sand packets that indicate periodic storm events.
Info about the expansion
The grapes were harvested by hand and fermented spontaneously for 2 months in used 2000 l wooden barrels.
Color
Sparkling, intense golden yellow.
Nose
The 2020 Grüner Veltliner Ried Schlossberg 1.ÖTW shows powerful, juicy fruit and lots of spice on the nose. The scent of dried apricots, mango and orange combines with a brilliant floral fragrance and exotic spices such as cinnamon and cardamom. The whole thing is encased in an earthy and stony depth that points to its insane development potential.
Palate
On the palate, it is taut and demanding. The sweetish fruit is accompanied by a wonderfully stimulating acidity and distinct salty notes. Supported by the spicy note of the nose and a spicy tannin structure, we are dealing with a wonderful long-distance runner that can gain even more with a little maturity.
At this stage, be sure to decant.
