Out of stock

On the palate, the aromatic density and diversity is entirely in keeping with the foretaste of the nose, but it is nevertheless skilfully and frivolously laced into a corset and far from expansive. Star fruit, yellow gooseberry and ginger feel equally at home in this frenzy, as do fragrant aromas of white tea and somewhat more sedate ones of lemongrass and fresh turmeric.

Color

In bright shining gold with discreet silvery reflexes the wine shows itself clearly and brilliantly in the glass.

Nose

The first appearance of this youthful Veltliner is pithy, leafy and initially a little introverted. It should definitely be opened in good time before drinking and ideally aerated. After some time, a wonderful carpet of aromas rolls out under the working title "Gmahde Wiesen". Grassy notes of hay flowers of all kinds fill the glass. It is important to mention that this is the ripe kind of colour green. Star fruit, yellow gooseberry and ginger feel equally at home in this romp, as do fragrant aromas of white tea and something more sedate of lemongrass and fresh turmeric.

Palate

On the palate, completely in line with the foretaste of the nose, the aroma density and variety is shown in fullness, but this is nevertheless skilfully and frivolously laced into a corset and far from expansive. The yellow-fleshed fruit of Martin Muthenthaler's 2017 Grüner Veltliner Ried Schön impressively lines the entire mouth, but immediately drags on; thanks to animating acidity and quiet, delicate phenolic, which reminds one a bit of the refreshing pungency of cress.

Food recommendations from Peter Müller

  • Burrata with safflower oil, lamb's lettuce and wholemeal breadcrumbs
  • Steamed plaice in lardo coat with spinach and boiled potatoes
  • Boiled liver sausage with sauerkraut and Schupfnudeln (potato noodles)
