Nose
The nose of the 2018 Grüner Veltliner from Garlider is complex and multi-layered and builds significantly with time in the glass. Caraffing is therefore recommended. Fruit mingles with spicy and ethereal top notes like a kaleidoscope. Ripe apples, pears and green almonds are in constant alternation with white pepper, chervil and celery leaves, which frame it spicy.
Mouth
Gripping on the nose, it combines the juicy fruit with distinctive spice. With fleshy extract, it is multi-layered and complex on the palate with an animatingly tart bite. The broadly stretched acidity is of formidable length and accompanies it into the delicately salty finish. This wine proves beyond doubt that the Eisack Valley is a good home for Grüner Veltliner, which is increasingly finding it too warm in its Austrian homeland. Serious Veltliner for the substantial kitchen.
