Info about the wine:
The hand-picked grapes for this subversive Grüner Veltliner come from organically farmed vineyards from the northwest-facing Strassacker site in Jois am Leithaberg, which is characterized by medium-heavy loamy soil with a high proportion of gravel.
Removal Info:
For the first time, half of Manila was vinified in amphorae (1,000 litres), the other half in used wood, the maceration period was 8 days.
Color:
Intense golden yellow, slightly cloudy due to the absence of filtration.
Nose:
The aroma of this 2018 Manila is primal and somewhat wild. Clear yeast notes, hay, lime blossom and cedar wood meet papaya, orange and green banana. In the background we find wild herbaceous meadow and a bit of shearling. It needs air, this top-substance. Exciting and still closed youthful one wants to taste it nevertheless already absolutely.
Palate:
The palate convinces with juicy fruit, yeasty freshness and a discreet tannin. One gets the feeling to spoil the senses and the body with every sip by this drop - this wine simply does well. It can be stored wonderfully for the next few years. If you don't have the patience, you should carafe it and enjoy it not too cold from big glasses. The cuisine that accompanies this wine should be as original as Manila itself.
