Info about the wine
Hohen-Sülzen is located in the so-called Eisbachtal; and as the name suggests, the cold low mountain stream that rises in the Donnersberg massif exerts a considerable influence on the cooler nights. The difference between day and night temperatures is higher in Hohen-Sülzen than in the other districts.
Color
Deep golden yellow, intermixed with clear green reflections.
Nose
The 2019 Grüner Silvaner "Leopold" Hohen-Sülzen impresses on the nose with opulent herbal aromatics. Basil, nettle, bell pepper, lime blossom and a hint of lavender intermingle with grapefruit, citrus, Granny Smith apple and passion fruit, all embedded in intense minerality.
Palate
This almost hurts pleasantly on the tongue, this intensity, gripping minerality and saltiness. The saliva flows immediately and the palate is lined powerfully and opulently. Its fine tannin in the long finish further whets the appetite. Intense dishes with a hearty impact and many herbs become an absolute umami experience in combination with this drop.
