Wine profile
This exquisite Grenache Rouge is an exclusive selection from the unique Bois Long parcel, located high in the picturesque Dentelles de Montmirail. The terrain is characterised by the special stone soil from the Triassic period. Cultivation takes place in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature, embedded in an aromatic sea of olive trees, thyme, rosemary and curry plants. The grapes were harvested by hand on 11 September 2020. The harvest was not destemmed, but used directly for fermentation in concrete cuve. The maturation process is followed by eleven months in enamel tanks and a further refinement of nine months in the bottle.
Visual perception
A subtle garnet red awaits the viewer, translucent and with a vivid brightness at the rim.
Olfactory perception
The bouquet of the Bois Long 2020 opens with hints of ripe sweet cherries, blackcurrant, raspberry brandy and warm yeast bread. These sensuously sweet and warm scents are harmoniously infused with a hint of liquorice, accompanied by subtle nuances of dry wood and finely grated rock.
Taste experience
On the palate, the Grenache unfolds in a round, silky and warm full-bodiedness. Its powdery, velvety tannin meets a bouquet of cherry, redcurrant and raspberry brandy, aromatic herbs and warm spices. Despite its richness, winemaker Philippe Gimel maintains an impressive precision. The wine gets its brilliance from a well-structured acidity and a tangy minerality.
Food recommendations
Palate pleasers include stuffed onions with a veal filling, braised venison stew on a bed of root vegetables enhanced with herbes de Provence, or red beans enriched with fresh thyme.
