Info about the wine:
"Graupert" means "wildly unkempt" in Burgenland dialect, like the vineyard where it grows completely uncut in freedom. The wine was fermented longer on the mash, vinified puristically and bottled unfiltered.
Color:
What a colour! Salmon pink, with orange reflections and silvery brightenings towards the rim.
Nose:
The nose of the 2019 Graupert is elusive, this exciting wine doesn't fit into any pigeonhole, thank goodness. Its aromatics are incredibly complex and constantly changing. Aromas of juicy apples, pink grapefruit, passion fruit, rhubarb and fragrant flowers seem almost floating. The fruity impression is accompanied by herbal notes and a little vanilla, but also by delicate nuances reminiscent of cassis leaf, forest honey and fresh ginger. It appears pure and unadulterated and immediately awakens the desire to taste it and to occupy oneself with it for a longer time.
Palate:
On the palate it is just as pure as in the nose with juicy fruit. Its acidity is invigorating and the fine tannin notes lend it complexity. The salty umami touch makes it so stimulating and focused at the same time that one would like to combine it with pleasure with a variety of dishes.
Decanting makes him win!
