Out of stock

The proportions of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah vary from year to year and were harvested in 2018 in the second half of September to the first week of October. Transparent and clear as a bell, the fine-bodied acidity is superbly integrated into this mineral momentum with a clear character of origin and a cool finish.

Tasting note from from 28.04.2021, Copyright Sebastian Bordthäuser

The Gotes series of Alfredo Arribas proves year after year that lively wines with vibration and tension are also possible in Priorat. Grown at well-ventilated altitudes of 500 to 800 metres in locations with little sunlight, the vines are harvested without forcing full ripeness. Bringing out the natural characteristics of the grapes and terroirs with minimal intervention is the premise of Gotes wines.

The grapes for the Gotes del Priorat are grown on Llicorella slate in the north of the appellation, on the border with Montsant, in the municipalities of La Morera and Damunt Roca. The proportions of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah vary from year to year and in 2018 they were harvested in the second half of September to the first week of October. With a portion of whole clusters, they were fermented spontaneously in steel, racked after about 20 days, and aged for 12 months in French barrels or second- or third-age barriques.

Color

Bright ruby red with violet reflections, luminous and clear.

Nose

Expansive and with great gesture, the 2018 Gotes del Priorat from Alfredo Arribas is a prime example of a Mediterranean wine. With juicy red fruit of blackberries and mulberries come tart notes of elderberries and cranberries. Underpinned by some maquis of rosemary, thyme, licorice and wild juniper, the herbal spice adds light balsamic accents. A thoroughly hedonistic wine with no net or double bottom. Bottle empty - true to fire!

Mouth

The palate keeps what the nose promises Fine fruity and super juicy he fires on the palate one fruit cascade after another. Slightly tartly contoured with extremely small-part and almost tenderly bitter tannin which gives him a certain sweetness. Transparent and clear as a bell, the delicate acidity is superbly integrated into this mineral momentum with a clear character of origin and a cool finish.
