Wine information
This wormwood called ALFRED is the result of a collaboration between distiller ALois Gölles and winemaker ManFRED Tement. From 1974 to 1979, they both attended the Höhere Bundeslehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Wein- und Obstbau. The Alfred Wormwood is uncompromisingly classic. The basis is the wormwood herb Artemisia absinthium. The astringent medicinal herb is definitely the focus here. It is aromatically rounded off with cardamom, thyme, fennel, coriander, rose petals and orange peel. At Semi-Dry add 40 grams of sugar. Up to 50 grams, wormwood should actually be considered a Dry can be called. However, there is already a Dryand it only has 15 grams of sugar. That is then really dry.

medium straw yellow
Nose
Tements Alfred is a pleasantly tart-smelling tonic. Wormwood, verbena, thyme, fennel and citrus zest form a composition here that has a classic effect and is not as sweet and slouchy as many modern, completely embellished vermouth variants.
Palate
On the palate the Alfred Vermouth Semi-Dry Spicy and herbal with a clear wormwood predominance including earthy notes. It is a herb wine with a strong character that works as an aperitif as well as a digestif. The 40 grams of sweetness are used very precisely here, giving the bitter notes a pleasant balance and emphasising the fruity components on the palate. At Semi-Dry Gölles has reduced the amount of vermouth a little in favour of cardamom. The Semi-Dry appears fine, almost elegant and full of character.
