The Wettolsheimer Grand Cru site Steingrubler has a southeastern exposure and is divided into the Hang- Hangfuss site, from which this Gewürztraminer comes. The Gewürztraminer stands there on calcareous sandstone soils and comes from vines that are a good 30 years old.
Color
Rich lemon yellow with green reflections, radiant and clear.
Nose
The 2019 Gewurztraminer Steingrubler Grand Cru from Domaine Albert Mann presents itself in the glass like a drag queen Colourful, dazzling and incredibly complex. Aromas of ripe tropical fruit mingle with local fruit and mild spices. Mango, fully ripe cantaloupe melons along with candied orange peel, stewed quince and dried apricots add up to its fruit content, along with light spicy notes of mace, white pepper and light tobacco leaf. The nose is in constant flux, changing from fruit to spice and vice versa. The magic of spice!
Mouth
On the palate, the Steingrubler shows a creamy melt, characterised by its 43 grams of residual sugar, which are, however, more than non-chalantly packaged here. With brilliant clarity and great precision, it combines its maturity with striking mineral notes and a more than disciplined appearance on the palate. The fruit is crystal clear, the sweetness is congenially absorbed by the fine phenolic of this ambrosial nectar. Independent and vital, it seems to vibrate with energy and brings the goblet to the lips time and time again.
