The rich golden hue of this Gewürztraminer from Clos Windsbuhl Vendanges Tardives, vintage 2005, sparkles intensely in the bottle, as if it were both drinkable light and liquid sun. A first sniff reveals a fresh, surprisingly lively aroma reminiscent of a refined, noble-sweet Riesling.

The classic Gewürztraminer aromas cannot be denied. In addition to peach, apple and citrus, notes of lychee, rose, vanilla, cardamom, ginger and clove dance through the fragrance, like an exotic spice caravan on the Silk Road.

On the palate, the wine reveals its true complexity and multi-layeredness. The fine minerality of the limestone soil draws clear contours on which the noble sweetness elegantly balances. The stimulating acidity gives the wine a playful lightness that never makes it seem heavy despite the sweetness. A wonderfully harmonious sweet wine that invites you to indulge and daydream. Like a perfectly choreographed ballet in which every movement, every aroma, has its place and yet always remains in motion.

The harvest in October 2005 followed a short wet period in September, ideal conditions for optimal ripeness and development of noble rot, which gives the wine its unmistakable character. A true pleasure, not only today, but also for many years to come.

On the culinary front, this wine offers a variety of pairing possibilities. For example, it would be excellent with dishes such as seared tuna steak on a citrus butter or a caramel cream with finely grated lemon. Those who prefer something more exotic could also try this wine with a spicy chicken curry or a fresh passion fruit tart.
