A first look at the wine
The Gewürztraminer may not be the most glamorous jewel in the late harvest from Clos Windsbuhl, but it looks back on a deep history in this region. The excellent location and the slightly stony limestone seem to be conducive to the perfect ripening of this wine, resulting in a remarkable hanging time of its grapes. Clos Windsbuhl stands for consistency and constancy in style, is perhaps not the most powerful wine, but the most intense and finely perfumed. Looking back, all these vines were planted in the sixties or even earlier.

Wine production
In 2018, the summer in Windsbuhl was warm and dry, yet the rich grapes impressed with their colour and optimal ripeness, the fruits of a demanding season. It is often the slowest fermenting wine and retains a high residual sweetness, which is a classic characteristic of this vineyard.

Color
A striking deep and intense golden yellow.

Bouquet
The 2018 Gewürztraminer from Clos Windsbuhl exudes an identity unmistakably synonymous with this grape. Hints of roses, grapefruit, elder pulp, liquorice, cardamom and ginger, make this wine irresistible, while an unexpected citrus freshness and liveliness overwhelm it. The bouquet alone promises elegant seduction.

Taste
The fine sweetness couples with a fresh acidity, salty and deep minerality and a structure that shows finesse and power. You will rarely find a Gewürztraminer of such light-footed but impressive quality, especially if you would like to enjoy it with selected meals. The aftertaste leaves a coolness and freshness that promises a truly lively wine.

For all wine lovers who cannot resist the temptation to open this wine now, we recommend decanting it at least one day in advance and enjoying it in large Burgundy glasses not too cold.

Food recommendations
Terrine of foie gras coated in hyssop with caramelised orange pieces, Braised venison leg with roasted apricots and cream curry, Plum spice cake with hazelnut ice cream.
