Wine information
The wine comes from vines in the Climat Marchais directly below the famous Clos Lavaux Saint Jacques. The cultivated 0.68 hectares are characterised by limestone and clay. After destemming, cool pre-fermentation and spontaneous fermentation, the wine is aged slowly on the fine lees for 18 months in 228-litre barriques with a new wood content of 50 to 75 %.
Color
slightly transparent deep ruby red
Nose
Dark and seething is the Gevrey-Chambertin from old vines. Provided the wine gets enough air, it smells of blackberries, plums and black cherries, some sweet tar, cinnamon and lightly flamed bryuère wood, menthol and liquorice.
Palate
An intense Pinot Noir develops on the palate over time, echoing the fragrance. It becomes juicy and silky with cinnamon cherries and Indian spices, blond tobacco and firm, yet already so slowly charming tannins and a creamy texture. Not only the hedonistic nature, but also the length and intensity of the Gevrey-Chambertin enthusiastic.
