This brilliant white blend shines in its intrigue and complexity by combining Vermentinu with Rossola Brandica, Riminese, Carcaghjolu Biancu, Biancone and Paga Debbiti, a respectable production of 4,000 bottles. Although vinified using the same techniques as the Diplomat, the Général confidently probes into entirely new dimensions. Pose and spice dance en pointe on a structurally complex stage, accompanied by impressive length and depth that take over the palate.
Enjoyed young, the Général plays its cards patiently and keeps its best assets under wraps. But let it mature and its presence and refinement increase without losing its lively minerality. It unfolds a magnificent bouquet of aromas, led by fragrant maquis herbs and tangy citrus fruits, leaving an invigorating and long-lasting salty note.
Visually, it enchants the eye with its radiant light golden hue, complemented by greenish reflections. The combination of five autochthonous grape varieties creates an exciting and fresh fragrance palette, with notes of various wild flowers and herbs such as chamomile, lemon verbena, thyme and peppermint, which together with juicy citrus fruits, green apples, pear skins and white peaches give off an enchanting scent.
On the palate, you'll experience an explosion of flavour from the sunny 2017 vintage. Explosive freshness and power explode, complemented by impressive minerality that gives it a taut structure and silkiness. Candied citrus flavours, particularly those of cedar lemon, blend seamlessly with a salty, stony minerality, creating a lively, lean and subtly vibrant wine with sublime bitter notes and a stimulating, mouthwatering finish. A delight!
Instead of a traditional pasta or fish dish, try this wine with some innovative pairings. Try it with spicy lentil tagine with fresh herbs, or a sweet and sour cod terrine with all sorts of spring vegetables in a saffron glaze. For a compound option, try a seafood paella with calamari and chipirones. Whatever you choose, the général is sure to impress!
