Info about the wine
The wines from the "Fuori Serie" are always the most outstanding of the respective vintage. In 2013, it was a special barrel of Vernatsch from vines that were over 62 years old.
Info about the situation
South Tyrolean Pergel in a very steep location, loamy sand, of volcanic origin, as well as moraine deposits, very deep and permeable.
Info about the expansion
Fermentation in oak fermentation racks for 4 weeks. At the beginning of fermentation round pumping and hand punching down 1 time per day. Subsequent vinification of two and a half years in used tonneaux, filled without fining and filtration. Further bottle ageing of 2.5 years.
Color
Muted garnet red with mahogany lightening towards the rim.
Nose
There is a lot of power and fire in this spectacular drop, it is truly a wild and original wine. Dried fruit, pickled plums, dark peat, liquid dark chocolate, firewood, juniper, roasted rosemary, violets and dark truffle beguile and overwhelm already in the fragrance.
Palate
Juicy, silky and charming, it flows over the tongue and is at the same time animated with a demanding and fine-grained tannin structure and fresh acidity. A wine that lingers on the tongue for a very long time and with a salty impression. Unbelievable how multilayered Vernatsch can present itself and with what depth and expressiveness. Very good ageing and storage potential! Wow!
