Wine information
The Villages is a cuvée of different sites of a village. In contrast to the Baden Landwein, which is supposed to integrate and show all of Baden's terroirs, the Villages shows a typical village character that was found particularly exciting in that particular year. Depending on the vintage, partially destemmed or fermented as whole grapes. Briefly foot-crushed in small wooden vats and fermented on the skins in moderate pigeage for around three weeks. Afterwards, the wine is pressed on an old basket press. The country wine is drawn off via the broquereau by drop pressure, aged exclusively in used wooden barrels, predominantly Barriques and Pièces. No yeasts, no enzymes, no fining, no filtration and a maximum of 30 mg of added sulphur depending on the vintage.
Color
Purple red with garnet red inclusions.
Nose
The 2019 Badischer Landwein Villages beguiles with lots of fruit, clearly showing raspberry, rosehip, sweet blueberries and stewed plums. After pouring it into a carafe, many herbal notes such as boxwood, tarragon and nettle join in, interwoven with a hint of vanilla and pepper due to the fine and moderate use of wood. Once again, a cool and extremely elegant structure is already omnipresent in the bouquet.
Palate
This impression is catapulted excellently onto the tongue, playful acidity, lots of minerality and the fine red and dark fruits dance the round dance. What an invigorating, inspiring drop that beguiles the senses with its beauty and invites you to dream. Already a great pleasure on its own, it lingers in the memory for a long time and invites you to meditate. The food that accompanies it should be original and honest like itself. Good development potential.
Decant and enjoy slightly chilled from Burgundy glasses.
