Wine information

This is a white wine with long maceration. It is a cuvée of 40 % Grenache Blanc and 60 % Rolle . The Grenache comes from a vineyard where Flo Busch lost around 50 % to frost in 2020. The 3.5 hectare vineyard is planted with Grenache Noir and Grenache Blanc. The soil is characterised by limestone gravel and galets roulés, not quite as large as in Châteauneuf, but with high quartz content. The Rolle grapes come from an 80-year-old vineyard on the heights with limestone gravel. The soil there is loose and permeable; it was already cultivated organically before the purchase. One third of the vineyard is planted with Rolle grapes and two thirds with Syrah grapes. Pointe du Jour is used. After the hand harvest, the grapes were crushed, the juice was left on the skins for about ten days and then pressed with a small basket press. The juice was fermented spontaneously in steel tanks and then aged for ten months in used French barriques. The wine was then bottled unfiltered and unfined with a small dose of sulphur.

Color

intense, slightly reddish orange

Nose

The 2020s Pierre qui role offers from the start an open and inviting bouquet of sweet yeast, of ripe oranges and kumquats, red berries and ripe to mellow stone fruit in combination with herbs and some peach and hops.

Palate

On the palate, the texture delights with the rich note of liquorice in the ripe orange fruit. Stone fruit and some peach can be found here as well, furthermore red berries and hops. The wine comes across as crisp and has a neat, finely textured tannin, also a lively acidity, and it has a comforting warmth.
