Color
The wine shows itself in bright straw yellow clear and shiny in the glass.
Nose
The scents of hay flowers, thistles and marsh marigolds open up a gorgeous unobtrusive array of aromas. A hint of lemon zest refreshes the yellow-fleshed fruits like physalis, dried apricot and apple rings. It's all held together by freshly kneaded yeast dough and underpinned by lightly tickling spice from hops and freshly ground white pepper.
Palate
Creamy without being overloaded, the 2018 "Fiore" Vernaccia di San Gimignano from Montenidoli lies across the palate and passes by caressingly. Not only in the fragrance but also in the feel, one notices its long yeast aging. Powerful yet supple and enlivened by fine acidity, it radiates elegance, but above all an unadulterated originality of its origin. The soils of this vineyard, characterised by shell limestone, give it a pleasantly meagre aftertaste.
