Nose
The 2016 Fausoni from Sottimano is always outlined by notes of dried fruit prunes and dried cranberries mingle with cherries, dates and raisins. This bacchanalian richness is spiced up with notes of liquorice, chervil and fennel and framed by noble wood spice. A warm, ripe aromatic picture that defines it as a wine with a clear character of origin.
Mouth
Grown on sandy soils with limestone and clay, it shines on the nose with its present fruit. Juicy with a high extract density, it is generous enough on the palate to digest the aging in barrels and the immense mountain of youthful tannins. A wine with great potential for decades. Its tightly woven tannins carry the rich fruit and accompany it with the clear acidity into the ethereally cool finish. Attention, overlength!
