Appearance:
A wine well drenched in garnet red, offering delicate, almost brick-red accents at its rim.

Odour:
The 2014 Fausoni Barbaresco presents itself as an expansive bouquet, led by a cool and refreshing rock and minerality. Through its exposure and interaction with oxygen, the seductive fruit aromas, indicated by dark berries, cassis, black cherries and plum jam, are discharged. Earthy hints of dark chocolate and truffle are still in the background at the moment, but they are pushing to express themselves with further maturity. A wine with a lot of potential and impressive tensions, this can already be sensed in the bouquet.

Taste:
At first contact with the tongue, one is thrilled by the tangy minerality of the Fausoni Barbaresco 2014. The demanding acidity and youthful tannin continue to develop. This is a sophisticated and complex wine that begs for additional time to fully develop. But no doubt, it will reach impressive greatness in a few years. To appreciate its youthfulness, it goes perfectly with strong dishes and concentrated sauces.

Recommendation:
At present, it is recommended to decant this wine at least two hours in advance and serve it slightly chilled.

Alternative food recommendations:
Try a creamy beetroot risotto garnished with porcini marinated in rich balsamic. Another dish that would go well is a crispy fried black pudding served on a bed of mashed potatoes with red cabbage. If you're craving something festive, a braised hare accompanied by Rouennaiser sauce, Swiss chard and truffle gnocchi is an ideal match.
