Wine information

Ester Nin and Carles Ortiz were able to take over the south and south-east facing Coma d'en Romeu vineyard a few years ago. The slate here is lighter than in the other cru, Mas d'En Caçador, but older - around 450 million years. In addition, the Garnatxa Negra vines, which are around 70 years old, stand as bush vines on the slope and not on terraces at an altitude of around 325 metres. The 1.5 hectares were harvested on 18.09.2018. The Garnacha was cooled down to below zero degrees for two days and then destemmed and crushed with feet in an open wooden fermenter. It was then fermented spontaneously and aged in used 225, 300 and 600 barrels.

Color

Deep dark purple, colour-dense to the rim.

Nose

What a firework of aromas emerges from the glass of the 2019 La Coma d'en Romeo Velles Vinyes Rosehip, ripe, sweet blueberries, dark plum jam and at the same time freshness and original wildness. Game, horse saddle, smoky and peaty aromas - all there, and a wonderful spice potpourri reminiscent of clove, cinnamon and cardamom. All the while, the cool stony imprint and wild dark flowers add wings to the beguiling character.

Palate

A multi-layered interplay of fruit, acidity and finest tannin is revealed on the palate. All impressions are coated by the dark, juicy and sweet fruit of the nose. The salty and mineral trail with which it moves across the tongue makes it a sinewy and wiry dancer. A wonderful long-distance runner with fantastic ageing potential. You don't have wines like this in your glass every day, and it's not just because of the strictly limited quantity that you get great pleasure from tasting it.

Be sure to open at least 2 hours beforehand and enjoy from a large red wine glass.
