Info

The Jeaunaux-Robin vineyard is located in the south of the Côte de Blancs. The village of Tallus Les Prix is a rural idyll. The glamour of Epernay or Reims are far away. The vineyards in the valley are exposed to late frosts here. Pinot Meunier dominates here and is best equipped to withstand these weather conditions. A small proportion of Chardonnay in the cuvee comes from the Côte de Bar.

The wines are matured in used barrique barrels and ideally do not undergo biological acid reduction.

Eclats de Meulieres means splinters of millstone. These limestone fragments can be found in the vineyards. Their high mineral content stands for itself.

There is also clay, flint and white marl.

The cuvee consists of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, which have an average vine age of 45 years. The wines are from the 2019 & 2020 vintages. Bottle ageing on the lees is 15 months. Dosage is stated at 3.5g per litre. Disgorgement was in July 2022.

Color

Bright straw yellow with golden red reflections. Very active, fine bubbly mousseux.

Nose

The nose of the Eclat is wonderfully elegant, full of finesse and seems cold. Lemon zest, yuzu juice and grapefruit provide it with plenty of vitalising freshness. Hints of almond yeast plait and nuances of cold smoke are revealed. Sea breezes from the cool Atlantic, oyster shell and the scent of fresh seaweed dominate it and lead it in a maritime direction. It comes across as positively restrained, quiet and makes a stony impression.

Palate

On the palate, it continues all the impressions from the nose. Cool, stony and enormously mineral. This transitions strongly into a salty character. The acidity integrates very successfully with its sparse structure without contrasting. It reveals a fine bitter note on the palate, which clearly boosts the drinking flow and thirst. The mousseux enlivens the first moments with a fine melting, but then quickly gives way to the pure barrenness of its essence.
