Info

The 2020 Si Rosé comes from biodynamically farmed vineyards in Riparbella on the Costa Toscana IGP. The vines are 19 years old and were planted at 220 metres altitude. Clay and limestone marl in the soil. After the manual harvest and selection in the vineyard, the vines are partially stoned. Gentle pressing. The must is cooled for two days. Fermentation follows spontaneously in 300l amphorae with natural yeasts. No further racking or filtration follows until bottling on 31.5.2021.

Color

Sparkling salmon pink, bright reflections

Nose

Wow. What a complex and versatile nose. Unfortunately, one experiences this too rarely in rosé wines. Rowan berries, redcurrant bush and blackberry leaves dominate the aromatic picture and in an unusual combination. Blackberries, marzipan and almonds are a close second. Abundant elderberries and elderflowers then provide additional berry fruit and an intense floral scent. A little nettle and parsley provide ethereal notes with plenty of tart freshness. Butter crumble and biscuit as well as some white pepper provide a successful finish.

Palate

Luca d'Attomo has made an amazingly good rosé from Syrah. The 2020 Si Rosé lives from a clear taste profile with rough edges. Not for the faint-hearted. On the palate, it presents a neat acidity that remains nailed to the palate for minutes. Powerful! Full of finesse and elegance, it advances. The spicy notes and again and again the lively acidity provide accents and refreshing moments while enjoying. Anything but well-behaved, close to perfection and in absolute purity, it provides great drinking pleasure. In the aftertaste, a little roasted aroma increasingly comes to the fore.

Food recommendations from Marian Henß

  • Roasted gilthead with fennel vegetables and orange sauce
