Info

CiFRA comes from vineyards in Riparbella on the Costa Toscana IGP, which are farmed biodynamically at 220 - 250 metres above sea level. All of Duemani's vineyards are Demeter certified. CiFRA is made from pure Caberent Franc grapes. The vines are 18 years old and stand on calcareous soils that are rich in clay and skeletons.

The harvest was done manually in the first 10 days of September 2019. The grapes were very juicy and in good balance. Temperature regulated spontaneous fermentation in cement tanks with only ten tanks of maceration contact are always standard at CiFRA. Racking was followed by maturation in the cement tanks. No further racking or filtration until bottling on 1.7.2020.

Color

Dark ruby red

Nose

Rich, red fruit in berry form spreads out in the glass. Blackberries, strawberries, currants, elderberries and raspberries make for a good mix. Ground black and white pepper and some juniper. Cigar box, cedar and a little warm leather contribute plenty of spice - ethereal and balsamic. Morello cherries, green olives and a little rosemary buzz around in the background. Appealingly fruity, warm, Mediterranean and charming.

Palate

A very typical wine for Luca d'Attomo. 2019 CiFRA from 100% Cabernet Franc lives from this dark intensity that characterises his wines. At the same time, he knows how to give these wines a certain polish like few others, which expresses itself in coolness, elegance and a silky mouthfeel. This is true for CiFRA as well as for almost all his wines in Maremma and Ribera del Duero. The tannin is discreet and delicate in the background. The fruit literally explodes in the glass. Again and again, however, the acidity kicks in and provides invigorating accents. With a lot of pressure, this crisp acid structure also ensures a good drinking flow and a desire for more. The berry fruits now seem very small and acidic. Perfectly done!
