Nose
The cuvée of Viognier and Roussanne has an incredibly oriental touch on the nose. Saffron and turmeric are loudly present alongside sultanas and dates. Acacia honey also comes out clearly, but without imparting sweetness. Apricots, mirabelles and peach appear in all facets - from fresh, baked, roasted as well as dried. Light tobacco leaves as well as a little cocoa butter emerge alongside toasted almonds with time in the glass. This white wine from the northern Rhône manages to combine an enormous depth with this density of aromas. Very delicate hints of smoke and Mediterranean herbs round it off.
Palate
2019 Brise Cailloux blanc seamlessly follows on from this phenomenal nose. Dense and packed with aromas. Full of facets and sensory dimensions. Especially the oriental and yellow-fruity nuances are noticeable again. However, it lives much more from the feel. Tightly structured and characterised by fine tannin, it builds up powerful pressure on the palate. The fruit makes it seem juicy without even suggesting sweetness. The minerality has a cooling and moderating effect on the overall experience. The acid structure is also fine, providing it with length and freshness. At the same time, acid peaks are released again and again, which cut the emerging aromas.
